THE STORY
SO FAR
PHASE ONE
In 2004, after discovering my passion for music in primary school, I dove headfirst into music performance. With extensive vocal training and an ambitious drive to excel, I quickly made my mark—earning statewide and national recognition as a record-breaking singer within my community. Touring with composers as a vocal demonstrator affirmed my love for teaching, and it became clear that coaching others was my true calling.
In 2007, I enrolled at Westminster Choir College in Princeton to study Music Education. There, I began shaping my own vocal pedagogy and approach to teaching the voice. Under the mentorship of Dr. Abrahams, the head of the education department, I was encouraged as a ‘prodigy’ in my field. With confidence in my abilities as an educator, I took these philosophies and headed to New York City to pursue music full-time.
PHASE TWO
In 2010, while living full-time in New York City, I continued refining my coaching technique—immersing myself in theater to become a more well-rounded instructor. Shortly after completing my studies, I was appointed Artist Director at a private school in NYC, where I developed both their after-school and theater performance programs.
During this time, I began building a private studio of vocal students, forming the foundational group that would become the core of my coaching career. My first student went on to secure a Broadway contract in the revival of Les Misérables—a milestone that confirmed I was on the right path. From that point forward, recommendations began to pour in. Casting directors took notice of the preparation and skill I brought to my students, and they recognized that many successful performers shared the same coach: me.
PHASE THREE
From 2010 to 2020, JDR Vocal Studios evolved into a powerhouse for elite performers across Broadway, film, television, and music. During this decade, more than 200 professional artists booking work on the world’s most prestigious stages and screens. Our students performed at legendary venues including Madison Square Garden, Coachella, and the Rose Bowl, while others became familiar faces on Broadway and major network and streaming platforms.
The accolades followed. Earning YoungArts Winners, Emmy Awards, and Tony nominations, solidifying the studio’s reputation as a trusted training ground for top-tier talent. Casting directors and creative teams began to recognize a pattern: performers who arrived confident, vocally prepared, and artistically grounded were often coming from the same studio.
In 2025, the momentum only intensified, with a growing roster of YoungArts winners, artists cast in original musicals, and performers stepping into high-profile revivals. This phase isn’t just about success - it’s about consistency, credibility, and impact.
And now, with the foundation firmly set, Phase Four is on the horizon.
The next chapter is bigger than ever.
